Weeds are the new laundry – from someone who can barely keep house plants alive I must say I’m proud of us for getting our garden to where it’s at as first timers but my goodness the weeding that is required. This has defiantly been a lesson that we need to do better preparing next year to tackle this. So far, we haven’t been able to harvest a lot besides turnips and some spinach, but we can see the rest growing and it’s exciting! The time it all takes has been very eye-opening and while I feel like we aren’t the best time managers I feel like we will only continue to get better. We’ve unfortunately had to toss some produce due to not keeping a closer eye on harvest times or pest control and that’s been frustrating.

The most satisfying has been just seeing everything fully start to grow and see the garden as a whole. It’s my favorite thing to sit on the back deck in the morning with my coffee and see everything blooming. This year I feel like has mainly just been getting our bearings and next year we will be better stronger gardeners both with size and just overall execution. We plan to start prepping for raised beds and be more mindful of cross planting and pest control. Some plants I think we can do without – broccoli and some I think we could plant more of – spinach, corn, and onions. Overall I’m grateful for the experience and it’s really given us the opportunity to make this a lifestyle for us.
