Established in 1994, the Appalachian Resource Conservation & Development Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Northeast Tennessee and beyond.


ARCD provides training to farmers and backyard gardeners, lends support to farmers markets, works to increase local food access for all, and strives to strengthen the local food system as a whole by bridging the gaps between producers, buyers, distributors, restaurants, and consumers.

ARCD’s Field School e-Course is your guide to growing a successful farm business in 6 courses. Based in northeast TN, the courses contain authentic perspectives from local farmers, mixed with sessions from trained agricultural experts to show the realities and requirements of running a successful farming business. Inspiring and honest, the series showcases the beauty and benefits of the world of agriculture.

It is recommended that you watch the e-Course in order; however, you can also choose which Modules would be most beneficial. 

Complete this e-Course, track your progress with a print-friendly checklist, and earn a Field School e-Course certificate, merch, plus credit to attend in-person workshops!
