This Saturday March 24th at 10:30AM, celebrate the coming of Spring at the Mountain Home Food Forest– Johnson City’s “public edible park.” This is a fun opportunity to see our Sowing Seeds programming in action, one of the most rewarding programs we get to support. Shae Keane & Taylor Malone lead programming for a core group of 12-15 neighborhood kids at the Food Forest several times a month, supported by numerous adult volunteers and ETSU students. Washington Community Foundation provides funding.
This Saturday’s Brunch is one of their quarterly seasonal potluck events open to the public to see Sowing Seeds in action and connect the community with the roots of their food, with nature, and with one another..
This event will include a pancake breakfast, served with locally harvested and processed maple syrup– learn more about the harvesting of maple sap to make maple syrup. The kids processed a little bit of maple syrup earlier this morning with sap tapped by Taylor.
If you like, you can bring a potluck dish to share.
Following the brunch, there will be an egg hunt– eggs which are filled not with candy, but with seeds to kickstart your spring garden.
Donations are always welcome.
