What an adventure this experience has been.

I’ve had so much fun learning about all the different types of vegetables and plants! My son loved the kids cooking class! It was a joy watching him do something he loves and learn more about the foods he likes to cook. This gardening season we’ve had quite the struggle with weeds trying to take over. If you notice, in one of the pictures you can see my garden sign that says the garden of weed’n which is very fitting.

As of right now, our cabbage is looking very good and healthy and our potatoes are getting taller every minute it seems. Our tomatoes haven’t gotten that much bigger but I’m hoping they will take off soon. Something seeks to be eating the leaves of the potatoes plants along with the tomatoes but I’m not sure what it is. I took a picture for reference.

Our garden ended up bigger than we originally planned but I think I like it better like this. We are looking forward to our hopeful first harvest in the middle of June. Due to all the weeds we have been considering changing to raise beds before the fall planting season. We love being a part of this program and have learned so much! We hope to be program participants for years to come. – Danielle Fagans
