Gardening has brought some unexpected challenges but most importantly some unexpected memories. I have a 7 year old, 5 year old, and 3 year old and they keep me on my toes! In the hustle and bustle of life, working, homeschooling, homemaking, and frankly surviving the day- it can be a challenge to make special moments for family time.
Gardening however has quickly become mommy-daughter, mommy-son, and family time! We spent the spring, summer, fall, and even winter in the garden between garden prep, sowing seeds, harvest, and overwintering our raised beds! We’ve made lessons out of growing plants from seed to harvest, the importance of our pollinator friends, food preservation, and even now composting our food and grass clippings for free!
The build it up program has added so much knowledge and armed me with the confidence to feed my family and pass on the love I have for gardening for generations to come. My littles and I have really put our sweat and tears into the garden and harvest days are our favorite – ESPECIALLY broccoli harvest day! I find myself expanding just  a little more each year. We look forward to another season of growing food not lawns!
