Join us and Farmers Markets across the region as we celebrate National Farmers Market Week!
Love Farmers Markets as much as we do? Here’s your chance to win some farmers market swag! Visit your favorite markets during National Farmers Market week, follow us on Facebook and post a pic of your National Farmers Market Week goodies with the hashtag #FarmersMarketHaul. Also, let us know why you love your farmers market! A winner will be drawn at random the following week, and the prize will include swag from multiple markets along with a gift certificate to one local market!
Northeast Tennessee boasts 13 weekly or bi-weekly Farmers Markets. You can visit at least one market a day Monday-Saturday across the region. Every market is unique and offers family friendly events. There are so many fun things going on this week, it’s hard to choose!

Sullivan County:
Kingsport Farmers Market
Location: 308 Clinchfield St, Kingsport, TN 37660

Mayor Patrick W. Shull has proclaimed the week of August 4 as National Farmers Market Week in Kingsport!
Thursday, August 8th 5:30-8:00pm
The Kingsport Farmers Market & Visit Kingpsort present an Evening at the Market featuring bluegrass band, Matlock & Company. The market will open at 5:30, music starts at 6. Be sure to bring a chair and your dancing shoes! Don’t forget to stop and get your “I Heart Farmers Markets” temporary tattoo! Tag the Kingsport Farmers Market in a picture on you Facebook or Instagram for a chance to win a KFM swag bag. Give the Farmers Market Scavenger hunt a try while you’re there. The Kingsport Market accepts EBT with some vendors also taking WIC.
Saturday, August 10/ 7am-1pm
The Kingsport Farmers Market will be celebrating the 15th Annual Homegrown Tomato Fest from 8-11am. This celebration of the juicy, red fruit features tomato contests, free tomato tastings (including heirloom varieties), free tomato refreshments, tomato-growing advice, tomato recipes, activities for kids and fun for the whole family. Gather your finest and/or funkies and enter them in the contest for Best Tasting, Biggest, Prettiest, Ugliest, Most Bizarre, and/or Best Dressed Tomato. Make an extra batch of your favorite salsa recipe and compete for bragging rights in the Best Salsa Contest. Admission is free and there are no entry fees. Entry forms may be downloaded from the SAPs website, www.saps.ue. Entries will be accepted from 8-9am for all contests, and winners will be announced after 10am. Homegrown Tomato Fest is sponsored by the Southern Appalachian Plant Society (SAPS). The Kingsport Market accepts EBT with some vendors also taking WIC.
State Street/Bristol Farmers Market
Location: 810 State St. Bristol TN 37620 (@ the mural)
*The State Street Farmers Market is our Northeast TN Market currently offering a double dollars program. All EBT transactions up to $20 are doubled, giving you $40 worth of purchasing power at market! Some vendors also accept WIC. Stop by and talk to the friendly folks at the Market Manager booth to learn more and collect your farmers market tokens.
Wednesday, August 7th 3pm-6pm
Stop by the Wednesday afternoon market to pick up some fresh sweet corn and tomatoes to hold you over until Saturday’s big Tomato Festival! The Wednesday market runs from 3-6pm.
Saturday, August 10th 8am-1pm
It’s Tomato Time in Tennessee! Join the folks at the State Street Farmers Market for the annual State Street Tomato Fest! Come out and enjoy a free tomato biscuit while you shop (as supplies last). Festivities begin at 8am.
Blountville Farmers Market

Located within walking distance from the Sullivan County Courthouse, the Blountville Market is the perfect lunch time stop. Offerings include baked goods, seasonal fresh produce, jams and jellies, local made crafts, and more! EBT is accepted at the market. Some vendors also accept WIC vouchers.
Washington County:
Johnson City Farmers Market
Location: The Farmers Market Pavilion at Founders Park

Wednesday morning markets kick off at 7am with a large variety of produce, baked goods, coffee, and more!
Saturday, August 10th 7am-2pm
**Location change: The Johnson City Farmers Market will be hosted at the Burley Pad across the street from the Police Department on August 10. Market hours are the same, 7am-2pm
Make the Johnson City Farmers Market your morning stop before venturing into downtown for the annual Little Chicago Blues Festival. You can pick up breakfast & a cup of locally roasted coffee, and healthy (or sweet ) snacks for the day. UT Ag Extension will also be on hand with their popular Farmers Market Fresh Program! Come sample some farmers market goodies and pick up a recipe card.
Jonesborough – Jonesborough Locally Grown

“The weekly Saturday market on August 10 will have many fun activities for all ages, including a tasting from our cookbook, Tater Tats, an Instagram photo contest, and a Thank-A-Farmer craft area for children! You can stop by and grab breakfast from our year round, producer only store, Boone Street Market, and listen to the Old Timers Band play classic bluegrass music from 9-12!”
Boone St Market, our region’s first year round, indoor 100 mile market, is open Monday-Friday from 10am – 6pm, and Saturday from 10am – 5 pm.
Stop in for a 100-mile (only goods sourced within 100 miles) brunch!
Mountain Home Farmers Market

The Mountain Homes Farmers Market is a 100% locally grown market featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, locally roasted coffee, and more. Market hours are from 2:30-6pm.
Unicoi County
Erwin Farmers Market
Tuesday, August 6th 5pm-8pm

Earn Farmers Market Money, reach your health goals, and spend some quality time with family and friends! Join the folks of Erwin Outdoor for their weekly family bike ride and receive a $3 voucher to go toward fresh fruits and veggies at the market. The bike ride starts at 6:30 and is approximately 45 minutes long. If bike riding isn’t your thing, take a nice 1 mile stroll along Erwin’s Linear or Pinnacle Trails and earn $3 to spend at the market. Children can gain an extra $2 by participating in a one bite challenge — take one bite of the featured fresh fruit or vegetable and receive $2 in Farmers Market Money.
Town of Unicoi Farmers Market

Location: Unicoi Tourism Information Center (beside Mountain Harvest Kitchen)
The Town of Unicoi is combining its annual Unicoi Farmers Market with the Community Yard Sale to give residents and visitors a full range of available products and activities every Tuesday from 8am-1pm. The market includes fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and crafts. The Tanasi Art Gallery, featuring fine local crafts and art will be open as well. Picnic tables are available. Come enjoy a picnic and mountain views!
Carter County
Downtown Elizabethton Farmers Market
Tuesday, August 6th 4pm-7pm
Location: On the micro-block at the corner of East Elk Ave. and South Riverside Dr (in front of the Riverside Tap House)
Join the folks from the Yoga Farm for Yoga at the Market! starting at 6:00 pm. Come a little early and participate in the Downtown Fit program. Walk one mile and receive a $2 voucher good for fresh fruits and veggies at the market. One of the areas newest markets, the Downtown Elizabethton Market has quickly become a regional favorite with a wide variety of vendors attending each week.
Johnson County
Johnson County / Mountain City Farmers Market

“August 10 will be “Kids Day” at Johnson County Farmers Market. We will have special crafts, snacks, live music performance by our own JAM Band (all kids performing bluegrass music), the Johnson County Nerf Club, and lots more!”
The Johnson County Farmers Market boasts a wide variety of producer only products. You’ll find fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, jams and jellies, and much more! The Johnson County market runs year round, moving indoors in the cooler months. During the summer season, they accept credit/debit cards and EBT. Every week the market spotlights local talent by hosting singer/songwriters at the musicians booth. At the GoJoCo Kids Tent, children can participate in weekly activities and earn tokens to spend at the Farmers Market.
Greene County
Depot Street Farmers Market

Come early and grab breakfast while enjoying musical performances from local singer songwriters in lovely downtown Greeneville. The Depot Street Market is a producer only market offering a wide variety of fresh produce, baked goods, honey, herbs, and much more.
Greeneville/Greene County Farmers Market

Location: Doak Museum green at Tusculum College

Greene County’s oldest market sets up weekly on the shaded lawn of the historical Doak Museum at Tusculum College. National Farmers Market Week falls right in with peak tomato harvest! The growers at the Greeneville market pride themselves in their hard to find heirloom tomato varieties. Join them Saturday morning to learn more about these heirloom varieties, pick up fresh baked goods and honey!
