A program of ASD in partnership with US Fish & Wildlife Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service, traditional riparian forest buffers help protect our waterways by reducing agricultural run-off and soil loss and providing shade and woody debris to enhance wildlife habitat. Multifunctional riparian buffers build on this idea by also allowing landowners to grow a perennial food crop in the buffer zone.
