Young farmers, Melissa Rebholz, of Greeneville, and Camille Cody, of Jonesborough, are starting the first chapter of the National Young Farmers Coalition in Tennessee.  Any farmer under the age of about 40 or so is welcome to attend, learn about the organization, and meet other young farmers in the region.  Anyone not familiar with the organization please visit their website http://www.youngfarmers.org/.

The event is February 17 at 6pm at the Depot Street Brewery (904 Depot St, Jonesborough, TN).  This will be a mixer and potluck to determine the needs of young farmer’s in our region.

A NYFC chapter generally meets 4 times a year.  The group hopes to be able coordinate buying clubs, peer to peer training, distribution and whatever needs are brought up by  farmer members that everyone can work together on.  Members will also be able to support the national campaigns already in action with the NYFC in the area.

The new group is hoping to get the word out to young farmers from Knoxville to Bristol, so spread the word!
