The 2011 “Splish Splash Brush Bash” artistic rain barrel competition was a great success. This competition partnered with the First Friday event in Johnson City to celebrate local artists and emphasize the importance of being a good environmental citizen.

Rain barrels help save water that runs off your roof, and best of all, that water is free!  Did you know that just one inch of rain collected from a 1,000 square foot roof equals over 600 gallons of water?  Just imagine how lush your lawn, flowers and garden could be in times of drought when you have saved water in a rain barrel.   Instructions for how to build a rain barrel.

This project was funded in part by the Tennessee Arts Commission, the Johnson City Area Arts Council and the 2011 Arts Build Communities Grant.
