Executive Director – Now Hiring

The Appalachian RC&D Council seeks an Executive Director (30 hours/week) to implement our vision of a strong rural economy through conservation of natural resources. For 25 years the ARC&D has united regional cooperation on environmental conservation and agricultural sustainability, and we are looking for the next leader to take our mission forward.

  • Enthusiastically direct fundraising development to build a diverse funding base.
  • Oversee programs with existing two full-time staff, one full-time AmeriCorps VISTA, and several contractor team members, with an ability to inspire an inclusive and collaborative approach.
  • Have a strong understanding of the role media, communications and public relations to play in operating a nonprofit.
  • Have an understanding and empathy for challenges that face landowners, and beginning farmers in northeast Tennessee.
  • Be comfortable wearing the many hats needed to lead a small nonprofit: hospitality and events; I.T. solutions; grant writing; accounting.


The successful candidate will work closely with the board of directors, and a broad community base, to ensure a vibrant and financially sustainable organization.

Start date is no later than July 1, with onboard training beginning in June ideal.



  • Position is 30 hours per week for $31,000 annual salary.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
